Royal Grammar School Newcastle Digital Archives

Welcome to Royal Grammar School Newcastle's Archives

Our archive includes a wide range of material, reflecting the school’s position in Newcastle-upon-Tyne over the last 500 years. It includes photographs, club records, administrative records (including admissions registers from 1898), plans, ephemera, pictures and a small museum of uniform and trophies. We also care for the older and rarer books from the school library, which include some teaching materials and books relevant to the history of the local area.

The school magazine, The Novocastrian, has run continuously from 1885 until the present day. Digitised copies of the magazine and some of our First World War records are available on this website. For all other enquiries, including to arrange a visit to the archives, please contact the Archivist at archives@rgs.newcastle.sch.uk. Please note that the archive has been affected by flood damage and we have large gaps in our holdings, the Archivist is also part-time.
